東北のためのエレジー（A.コミタス）～吹奏楽のための
"ELEGY FOR TOHOKU " (Alexander Comitas) for windband

オランダ人作曲家、アレクサンダー・コミタスが東日本大震災発生後に作曲した吹奏楽作品です。
作曲家自身のアレンジによって、日本に多い小編成のバンドでも演奏できるバージョンも作られています。
まもなく、スコアが作曲者のウェブサイトで利用できるようになるとのことです。

A Dutch composer Alexander Comitas has made a piece for windband.
He has made a version for smaller bands, besides the original full band version.
The composer will upload the scores on his website.

Message from Mr. Philip Sparke

２０１１年３月１１日、マグニチュード9.0の大地震が日本の東北地方沿岸を襲いました。
その地震から一週間もたっていませんが、私が今こうして楽曲解説を書いている最中にも死者は6,000人を超え、行方不明者は数千人にのぼっています。
私には日本中のバンドに所属する友達がたくさんいますが、そのうちの一人である西田裕（ゆたか）さんが私に、多くの被災者の支援をすべく曲を書いてお金を集めたらどうかと提案しました。
私はすぐにそのアイディアに共感し、吹奏楽のためのカンティレーナ（ノルウェーのグレンランド国際金管フェスティヴァルに最近委託され書いていた金管バンドのための作品）を編曲しなおし、新しいタイトルとともに「日出ずる国」の仲間たちへの敬意をこめてささげることにしました。　
この曲の楽譜販売から私個人が得る報酬を日本赤十字社の義援金へ送金するとともに、私の作品の卸業者であるデ・ハスケDe Haske社もこの曲の販売利益のすべてを義援金として寄付してくれることになっています。
またこの曲のプロジェクトによる支援が即座に被災者に届くようにするために、彼らは楽譜購入で集まる義援金とは別に、前もって赤十字への多額の募金をすることを決めています。

日本には「吹奏楽こそ我が人生！」という人が本当にたくさんいます。
彼らの試練の時にあたって、この“バンドエイド”プロジェクトによって世界中の吹奏楽“バンド”が
日本の人々をサポートすることができればと、私は真摯に願っています。

Message from Mr. Philip Sparke

"On March 11th 2011 a massive 9.0- magnitude earthquake occurred off the coast of north-eastern Japan.I'm writing these programme notes barely a week later and the death toll caused by the quake and resulting tsunami already exceeds 6000, with thousands of people still unaccounted for. I have many friends associated with many bands throughout Japan and one of these, Yutaka Nishida, suggested I write a piece to raise money to help those affected by the disaster.
I was immediately attracted by the idea and have arranged Cantilena (a brass band piece recently commissioned by the Grenland International Brass Festival, Norway) for wind band, giving it a new title to honour my friends in the Land of the Rising Sun.I will be donating royalties from this piece to the Japanese Red Cross Society Emergency Relief Fund and am delighted to say that my distributors, De Haske, who will generously also donate all net profits from sales of this piece, have pledged a substantial advance payment to the Red Cross so that what little help this project generates can be immediate.It is my sincere wish that this 'Band Aid' project will allow wind bands around the world support the people of Japan, where bands are a way of life for many, in this difficult time".

El 11 de marzo de 2011 un masivo terremoto de magnitud 9.0 ocurrio en la costa noreste de Japon.
Estoy escribiendo estas notas de programa practicamente una semana mas tarde y el numero de muertos causados por el terremoto y el tsunami ya sobrepasa de 6000, con miles de personas aun por encontrar.
Tengo muchos amigos asociados a muchas bandas por todo Japon y uno de ellos, Yutaka Nishida, me sugerio escribir una obra para recaudar dinero para aquellos afectados por el desastre. La idea me atrajo inmediatamente y he arreglado Cantinela (una pieza original para brass band que fueencargada por elGrenland International Brass Festival, Noruega) para banda, dandole un Nuevo titulo en honor a mi amigo en el Pais del Sol Naciente.
Donare las ganancias de esta pieza a la Cruz Roja de Japon en el Fondo de Emergencias y me enorgullece decir que mis distribuidores, De Haske, quientambien donaran sus beneficios netos a la causa, ya han enviado un substancial pago a la Cruz Roja para que la poca ayuda que pueda crear este proyecto sea inmediata.
Es mi deseo sincero que este proyecto de ayuda pueda permitir a bandas alrededor del mundo apoyar la gente de Japon, donde las bandas forman parte de sus vidas, en este momento tan dificil”.
